Fostering and Adoption was never on my mind.
I had four children, and that was more than the majority of people had.
Those four amazing children did have some challenging issues.........
Epilepsy, ADHD, Asthma, and learning disabilities.
But, hey, they turned out great!
I never saw any of it as a disability, I always saw it as a challenge......
A new way of thinking.
I looked forward to them growing up, being independent, and leading their own lives!
I didn't understand that some of the choices we made, like amazing hubby and me, would...........
cause me to suddenly not have my career as I knew it anymore.........
or feel like I didn't know where to turn next.......
other than to pray............
and ask, "Then what do you want me to do for you, God?"...........
instead of "this is what I'm supposed to do for you, God!"
My life changed in an instant literally, and I've never looked back.
My life would be very different as would I if I had never heard the call........
The call to foster and adopt children who had no one and nothing..........
children whose hearts and spirits were broken, even when they were just born.
We certainly never intended to adopt eight children including three sets of twins or foster around fifty children.
Each child that came had a story of hurt, abuse, neglect, and rejection or abandonment.
Even the babies!
One of my precious babies was so upset all of the time with feeding issues as well as having a hard time being soothed, or settled and comfortable.
I called it "Womb Trauma."
A traumatic experience she had in her birth mother's womb because of alcohol and drug use.
It was a journey I will never forget, regret, and am forever thankful for.
I might have missed it all if I hadn't chosen to listen to that "small voice" that led me on my journey through fostering and adoption.
Does this resonate with you?
If it does I'd love to chat with you and let you know some next steps. There are so many children waiting for "forever" families and homes.
Is your home ready? If so...........
